Decon serves the population in Praça da Messejana on the first day of Consumer Week

The Praça da Igreja Matriz de Messejana received, this Monday (11/03), assistance from the State Consumer Protection and Defense Program (Decon), from the Public Ministry of the State of Ceará (MPCE). The action opened Consumer Week 2024, which this year has the theme “Preventing fraud and scams in consumer relations”.

Throughout the morning, citizens who passed through the space were able to renegotiate debts together with Enel Ceará, the Water and Sewage Company of the State of Ceará (Cagece), telephone companies and banks. The attendants also provided information about over-indebtedness and received complaints about problems with products or services.

“The main objective of this event, which is taking place this week, is to celebrate World Consumer Day, which takes place on March 15th. To celebrate this date, we are taking this action to raise awareness and try to resolve the consumer’s problem in the consumer relationship, with issues related to debts, debts, CPF consultation, a very wide range of options to make the consumer’s life easier. We realize that consumers, with our decentralized services, are becoming more enlightened about their responsibilities in relation to consumption”, stated Pedro Ian Sarmento, Customer Service coordinator at Decon.

Self-employed José Haroldo de Sena sought assistance with the aim of paying off a debt with Enel. “I thought the event here in the square was great, because I was going to the city center to try to resolve this debt with Enel and I don’t need to go anymore. The staff responded very well, they are prepared,” he said.

Ana Lúcia dos Santos is a housewife and found out about the Consumer Week service on television. “I’m receiving a lot of calls about undue charges. There are 30 to 40 calls and I came here to resolve them and I was very well guided,” she said.
