Carles Puigdemont Exits Spain Despite Arrest Warrant
Following a brief public appearance in Barcelona, Catalan independence leader Carles Puigdemont has reportedly fled Spain, according to his lawyer. The general secretary of his group confirmed that Puigdemont has gone into exile, likening his departure to the Battle of Waterloo.
A high court judge has requested information from the Catalan police and Interior Ministry regarding how Puigdemont has evaded arrest despite being subject to an arrest warrant since Catalonia‘s declaration of independence in 2017.
