Putin, in his first statement on this event, has confirmed that the indications suggest that Wagner personnel were traveling on board the aircraft, as official institutions had already indicated on Wednesday, which identified Prigozhin himself among the passenger list, according to the TASS agency.

During a meeting with the leader of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic, Denis Pushilin, Putin assured that the investigation “will take time”, since technical and genetic tests are being carried out. However, he has stressed that, despite this, the investigations will be carried out “until the end.”

Putin has remembered Prigozhin, whom he had known since the 1990s, as “a man of difficult fate”, but that it “achieved the desired results”. “We will not forget the contribution of Wagner members to the fight against neo-Nazism in Ukraine,” she added.

Likewise, the Russian president has branded Wagner’s boss as “a talented person” and a “businessman” who dealt with the oil, gas, precious stones and metals sector on the African continent.

“Regarding the plane crash, first of all I want to express my deepest condolences to the families of all the victims,” ​​Putin said, adding that it is a “tragedy,” according to the Interfax news agency.

The Investigative Committee has opened proceedings to determine the causes that led to the plane crashing in the Tver region while flying from Moscow to Saint Petersburg.
