Russian President Vladimir Putin believes that the decision to exclude the Taliban from the terrorist list should be made at the UN level. However, in his opinion, everything is moving towards this, the President said during the plenary session of the Valdai Discussion Club. He recalled that Russia is engaged in a dialogue with the new authorities of Afghanistan and negotiations with them recently took place in Moscow.
“Russia’s position will be to move exactly in this direction. But all the same, these decisions must be made in the same way and in the way they were made earlier, when we included this movement in the list of terrorist organizations, ”said Mr Putin (quoted by Interfax).
Yesterday, October 20, diplomats from ten countries held direct talks with the Taliban in the framework of the Moscow format on Afghanistan. The Taliban want to achieve legitimization of their power.
