Putin prepares for a more than certain victory in the Russian presidential elections

Russian voters went to the polls this Friday in all 11 time zones of the country for a three-day presidential election that will undoubtedly extend Vladimir Putin’s 24-year rule until at least 2030.

The veteran Russian leader faces no serious opposition after Russian authorities prevented two candidates from running who expressed their opposition to the war in Ukraine. Three other politicians running for election do not directly question Putin’s authority and his participation is intended to give legitimacy to the contest.
