Putin will finance studies in Russian schools in Ukraine

Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered his government to give 10,000 rubles, which is about $165, to all families with school-aged children in Russian regions of Ukraine, in the region of Donetsk and Luhansk. The purpose of the grant is to encourage sending children to schools with a Russian education while the war continues.

As you may recall, in February the authorities in Russia published a presidential decree stating that the People’s Republics of Donetsk and Luhansk are declared “independent” and return to Russia. Putin promised that three additional Ukrainian regions would also be included in the decree. Since then, for months, Russian forces have occupied parts of the Zaporizhia, Kharkiv and Kherson regions, but all three regions remain disputed and unequivocal control has not yet been achieved.

The statements come when in the background President Joe Biden yesterday approved $3 billion in aid to Ukraine. The aid will be used by Ukraine to purchase weapon systems, artillery and ammunition for the coming years. In a statement published by the White House, it is stated that the aid will allow Ukraine to equip its army so that it can face the challenges that have been set for it in the coming years.
