Morocco Hosts Solidarity Event for Palestinian People Amid Gaza Crisis

Morocco reaffirmed its steadfast support for the Palestinian cause Saturday, hosting a meeting in Rabat to mark the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, observed annually on November 25. The event underscored growing international concern over the escalating humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip and renewed calls for a lasting resolution to the ongoing conflict.

Diplomatic Support and Royal Endorsement

The gathering, organized by the Embassy of the State of Palestine in Morocco and the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Acharif Agency, drew a diverse audience including members of the Arab diplomatic corps, political figures, trade union representatives, and leaders from civil society, art, and culture. A key focus of the event was praise for the consistent stance of the Kingdom of Morocco, under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, President of the Al-Quds Committee, in advocating for Palestinian rights.

“The firm positions of the Kingdom…clearly reflects the Palestinian vision and program,” stated the Palestinian Ambassador to Morocco, Jamal Choubaki, referencing a message from the Sovereign to the President of the United Nations Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People. This message, according to Choubaki, demonstrates a deep understanding and alignment with Palestinian aspirations.

Aid and Advocacy for Gaza

The event also highlighted the crucial work of the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Acharif Agency in providing assistance to the people of Gaza and bolstering the resilience of the Holy City and its residents. Choubaki specifically acknowledged the agency’s efforts, emphasizing the urgent need for international intervention.

“The celebration of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People comes this year in a difficult context for the Gaza Strip,” Choubaki stressed, issuing a plea to the international community to “put an end to the aggression, to open the crossing points to humanitarian aid, to protect civilians and to end the occupation.”

Morocco’s Ongoing Commitment

Mohamed Salem Cherkaoui, director responsible for the management of the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Acharif Agency, reiterated His Majesty King Mohammed VI’s unwavering commitment to the Palestinian cause. He noted that the King’s support is manifested through direct aid to Gaza and the agency’s continued assistance to the inhabitants of the Holy City, operating under the King’s direct instructions. Cherkaoui emphasized that these efforts are integral to Morocco’s broader diplomatic strategy in support of Palestinian rights, pursued on multiple levels and across various platforms.

Cultural Expression and Remembrance

The meeting featured performances by Moroccan troupe “Jadal” and Palestinian troupe “Asayel”, showcasing the richness and authenticity of Palestinian cultural heritage through popular arts. The event also served as an opportunity to honor both Ambassador Choubaki and the late Mohamed Benjelloun Al Andaloussi, former president of the Moroccan Association for the Support of the Struggle of the Palestinian People, recognizing their dedication to the Palestinian cause.

The gathering in Rabat served as a powerful demonstration of Morocco’s enduring solidarity with the Palestinian people and a renewed call for a just and lasting peace.
