(ANSA) – ROME, MAY 12 – The Radicals remembered the anniversary of the death of Giorgiana Masi at Ponte Garibaldi in Rome: “On 12 May 1977, during a referendum demonstration organized by the Radical Party, a young student was murdered: Giorgiana Masi A state assassination, perpetrated by the then minister Cossiga and by a government of a democracy emptied and transformed into a regime. Yesterday, today and tomorrow: where there is no law, justice and democracy, there is no freedom! divorce birthday, thank you Giorgiana during a street demonstration”. “On 12 and 13 May 1974 – the radicals recall – the referendum to repeal the Fortuna Law was held in Italy, the Socialist and Radical parliamentary father of the law on divorce. Almost 60% of Italians said no to the repeal, reiterating a clear yes to divorce. Today, as then, institutional politics continues to be light years away from people: we see this on the many issues in which the majority of citizens have very different opinions from the (immobile) political class that represents them. there are still many steps forward to be made, also on divorce: the objective for us Radicals remains the French example, where it is possible to divorce without having to go through separation”. The municipality of Rome also remembered the death of Giorgiana Masi with a wreath placed by councilor Miguel Gotor on the plaque commemorating her murder. (HANDLE).
