Armenian weightlifters continue their successful competition at the European U20 and U23 weightlifting championship in Romania’s capital, Bucharest.
Rafik Harutyunyan won the title of the winner in the 81 kg competition for the under-23 age group, standing on the first step of the honor platform with the result of 330 kg (150+180) of the two-fight event. Harutyunyan was also recognized as the best in snatch and push exercises. In this weight class, the other representative of Armenia, Karen Margaryan, won a silver medal, showing a result of 323 kg (145+178) in the two-fight event.
Tigran Karapetyan (67 kg) and Gor Sahakyan (73 kg) won the title of the vice-champion of the Youth EA in the fight for under 20-year-olds. Karapetyan became a silver medalist with a result of 275 kg (123+152) in the double event, also winning small silver medals in the snatch and push exercises, and Sahakyan registered a result of 311 kg (171+140) in the double event and stood on the second step of the honor platform. Sahakyan also won small silver medals in snatch and push exercises.
The other representative of Armenia, Martin Poghosyan (73 kg), having registered a result of 308 kg (172 +136) in the double event, became a bronze medalist. Poghosyan also won a small gold medal in the push-up exercise. Mnatsakan Abrahamyan (81 kg) was also awarded the bronze medal in the dual event at the U20 European Championships with a result of 313 kg (138+175). The Armenian weightlifter also won a small silver medal in the push. Alexandra Grigoryan (59 kg), a member of the Armenian women’s U20 national team, also stood on the third level of the platform of honor with the result of 198 kg (112+86) in the doubles. The Armenian sportswoman also won a small bronze medal in the snatch exercise.
Earlier we reported that the title of the winner of the U23 Championship in Bucharest was won by Garnik Cholakyan, a member of the Armenian national team, weighing 61 kg. Seyran Khudanyan (55 kg) and Meruzhan Yeghoyan (61 kg) won bronze medals in the U20 competition.
The European Youth Championship is held from July 23 to August 3.
