Thundershowers will develop at several places in Tamil Nadu on December 31 and January 1.

The Chennai Meteorological Department has forecast moderate rains in Tamil Nadu for the first five days today.

The coastal districts of Tamil Nadu and one or two places in Pondicherry and Karaikal are likely to receive light to moderate rains today and tomorrow. Moderate rain is expected in the coastal and adjoining hinterlands on December 30.

Similarly, light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is forecast for a few places in Tamil Nadu on December 31 and January 1.

The Met Office has forecast light snowfall in the Western Ghats and other inland districts till tomorrow.
