Judges have also ruled that arrests should not be made on a presumptive basis without a summons from August. Why was Rajendra Balaji lodged in Madurai Jail while he was sub-jail in Virudhunagar where the case was registered and then transferred to Trichy Jail which is 300 km away? ” The judges questioned.
The Tamil Nadu government said it had been transferred from Madurai jail to Trichy for security reasons, but later said it had been transferred to Corona for security reasons.
“Was there a security threat to the former minister? Who was the threat? ” The judges said, adding that the problem was “serious and the police could face dire consequences”. He also asked, “Has the Tamil Nadu Police filled the jails without complying with the court orders to release the innocent prisoners following the Corona restrictions?” The court questioned, “Is the police acting rashly without summoning Rajendra Balaji’s lawyer?” So the question is raised.
In this situation Rajendra Balaji was granted conditional interim bail for 4 weeks. The Tamil Nadu government has been ordered to respond within 3 weeks. It has been mentioned that Rajendra Balaji has to stay within the boundaries of the police station where the case has been registered during these 4 weeks and hand over his passport to the police.
