Ramadan is the most virtuous month for Muslims. This month has started knocking on the doors of the fasting people. Astronomers in the oil-rich modern state of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, have announced that the first Ramadan may begin on March 12.

On the occasion of Ramadan, retailers in shopping malls of the Emirates have entered into a competition with discounts on everyday products. Emirate businessmen have announced discounts ranging from 10 to 75 percent in different types. Lulu Hypermarket, Carrefour, Abu Dhabi Co-operative, Sharjah Co-operative, Banias Co-operative, Al Madinah and Ramiz Hyper Market, major shopping malls in the emirate, are announcing discounts as well as attractive prizes to attract shoppers. Famous brand cars are arranged in front of the shopping mall. If you buy products worth 200 dirhams, you will get a draw ticket with a discount card.

Meanwhile, the UAE has banned price hikes of nine essential commodities at the retail level during the upcoming Ramadan. An official of the country’s finance ministry told the media that the price of these products cannot be increased without the permission of the ministry. The products are – cooking oil, eggs, dairy products, rice, sugar, poultry, beans, bread and flour. If you get a complaint about the price increase of these products, you will have to pay a hefty fine. Business license may be terminated.

The official of the price monitoring department of the Ministry of Finance said, ‘Product pricing policy is an important part of market regulation. The supply of important products is increasing in the country on the occasion of Ramadan.

This officer named Abdullah Sultan Al Fan Al Samsi also said, ‘We are determined to meet all the needs of consumers. We want to ensure that customers do not have to buy products at extra cost and that they can meet their needs.’
