President Ranil Wickramasinghe has said that the New Year celebrated this year has brought a little consolation and we should try to create more happiness in the next New Year.
The President has mentioned this in his New Year greeting message issued today (14.04.2023). He also said, “Tamil and Sinhalese New Year, which rises after the Sun moves from Pisces to Aries, is very special and full of joy for the Tamil and Sinhalese people of this country. Everyone performs rituals for the sake of happiness and prosperity.
Last year when Chitra New Year dawned we were all caught in a huge crisis. The biggest challenge was just going through the day-to-day life, let alone celebrating the New Year.
But this year, an atmosphere has been created that gives everyone a little comfort. In the next New Year, we should try to create even more happiness and prosperity.
That goal is possible if we all walk the same path as one people. If we make a firm determination in this New Year to move forward with a new perspective, discarding ethnic, religious, party, and color differences, not only this New Year, but also the future can be set up for good health.
