After the floods caused by the torrential rains in the last two days, the situation in the municipality of Vlora seems calm, the Albanian agency ATA reported for BTA.
The regional governor of Vlora, Kristak Kicho, told ATA today that “the supply of electricity and drinking water has been restored, and the four blocked roads are now passable”.
“We are also working on cleaning the roads from inert materials and waste brought by the water. The municipality is using all its funds, and the Water and Sewerage Directorate has provided 7 boats and 2 probes,” he added.
Kicho also said that work is being done to describe the damage.
“The army has also helped with pumps to remove the water from the underground garages,” Kicho said.
Kicho informed that yesterday about 300 food aid packages arrived for the affected families.
Last night Vlora Mayor Ermal Dreda said that “efforts are focused on helping every family and business affected by the rains. Although the situation has exceeded our forecasts and capacity with 180mm of rain in two hours, we are determined to continue to solve every problem,” Dreda said.
The heavy rains two days ago lasted for several hours and caused flooding in some areas of the city of Vlora.
