The 17th round of the Premier League continues tonight (Tuesday) with the meetings between the newcomers and the luxury teams – Chelsea will host Bournemouth, while Nottingham Forest will come to Old Trafford for a match against Manchester United.
Chelsea – Bournemouth (19:30, Sport1)
The Blues return from the break for a meeting against the newcomer, whom they have not beaten since 2018. In the last three games between the clubs, Chelsea failed to beat the small team from London, and in their last visit to Stamford Bridge, the Cherries won 0:1. Graham Potter’s injured list is still long and also players like Wesley Popana who returned to fitness, was injured once more and will be out for several weeks. The England manager made eight changes from the side that lost to Newcastle before the World Cup break and brought Reece James back into the squad after it missed out on the World Cup, with Ben Chilwell and Ruben Loftus-Cheek again left out. Thiago Silva, Raheem Sterling, Kai Habertz and Christian Pulisic were also placed in the 11, while Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is on the bench. The Blues, who count five consecutive league games without a win, will try to get back to business and stick to the top group in the leading place for Europe next season as well.
Manchester United – Nottingham Forest (22:00, Sport1)
The Red Devils without Cristiano Ronaldo who left the club during the World Cup break will continue their quest to try to get back into the Champions League spot next season. Erik ten Haah shared before the game against Forest: “We had some problems with patients, like Harry Maguire, but he is back to fitness. Together with the return of Rafael Verran and Lisandro Martinez, our defense will get back to itself and we will be able to build momentum, so I’m happy about that.” Another player who is in doubt due to a minor muscle injury is Diogo Dalot, who looked fantastic in the World Cup for Portugal. On the other hand, Serge Aurier and Morgan Gibbs-White will be tested before the game and Nottingham will hope that he will be fit for the game at Old Trafford. The last meeting between United and the guest was in 1999 and ended in a historic victory 1:8 for the team from Manchester.
The 17th round will close with the meeting between Leeds and Manchester City (Wednesday, 22:00, Sport1).
