CHENNAI: ‘Halal’ certificate mentioned in Aavin’s butter packet is for international export approval, said Subhaiyan, Aa’s managing director. Some of the products, including Aavin Butter, were labeled ‘Halal Certified’. Thus, controversy arose.
In this regard, Subhaiyan, Managing Director of Aa said: “Halal” certificate is given to food products like ISO, – FSSAI quality certificates. Various food safety certificates are being obtained for Aa’s dairy farms. Similarly, in 2017, Madurai Dairy has received Halal certification for exporting butter abroad.
It has been used for many years. If you get this certificate, you can export products including butter to 117 countries. Hotels, Hospitals, Tourism Organizations have got this certificate. Therefore, do not associate the Halal certificate of international recognition obtained by Aavin company with another word Halal. This certificate has been obtained because Aavin products are manufactured in accordance with international standards, he said.
Shiv Sena condemned
Shiv Sena State President Ravichandran and Principal Secretary Sundaravadivelan issued a joint statement: So far, there have been no religious symbols in the products manufactured by Aavin’s company. After Nasser took over as dairy minister, the word ‘Halal certified’ was added to Aa’s food products.
This is highly reprehensible; Illegal. Therefore, the Tamil Nadu government should take appropriate action to prevent such slogans from appearing.
