It was through a march that the inhabitants and residents of the city of Rimkieta, Nooghin, Komdayonré and Bassinko village expressed their dissatisfaction with the government’s decision regarding the asphalting of the Nonssin section in the City of Rimkieta.

Indeed, local residents say they are deeply affected by a government decision which tends to reduce the distance from the bitumen planned for the project. Planned to pave a section of 6.88 kilometers, the work only took into account 4.33 kilometers.

For the demonstrators, compliance with the asphalt contract must be effective over the entire distance planned by the project, namely 6.88 kilometers. According to Yacouba Ouédraogo, resident of Bassinko, the decision comes from the ministry in charge of infrastructure for financial and technical reasons. “ After the start of the work on the asphalting of the section, the project had planned a asphalting of 6,880 kilometers and when the company started the work, we noticed that they cut 2.5 kilometers to leave.

This is where we, those concerned by the 2 kilometers, went to see the Ministry of Infrastructure to find out the source of the problem, and as a response, we were told that the funding that had been planned cannot cover 6.8 kilometers but 4.3 kilometers. Which we find abnormal. This is why we, residents of the city of Rimkieta, Nooghin, Komdayonré and Bassinko village gathered this morning to say that we do not agree with this decision and we invite the government to respect its commitment » he lashed out.

According to Hervé Ouédraogo, the Secretary General of the Association for the Economic and Social Development of Bassinko village, the plea of the inhabitants of the said section dates back several years. And to add that each year, local residents mobilize a sum of nearly three million for the maintenance of the road, something which is not easy with the rainy seasons. In addition to this, he noted that users of this section face problems linked to accidents and armed robberies.

The Secretary General of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Opening Up, Ismaël Zebré, said he was aware of the situation. Moreover, he stressed that the start of the project experienced financial and technical difficulties. However, he reassured the demonstrators that measures are being taken to be able to cover the asphalting of the remaining 2.5 kilometers.

As a reminder, the official launch of asphalting activities on urban roads in Bassinko, Rimkieta, Nafrin and Yagma took place on May 13 for a period of 12 months.
