Bruno Retailleau, who will face Eric Ciotti on Sunday for the presidency of LR, promised on Tuesday to organize if he is elected an internal referendum on an alliance with Macronie “to decide”the two candidates nevertheless claiming to be hostile to any agreement.
The debate regularly returns to the right against the backdrop of Nicolas Sarkozy’s repeated calls for an alliance.
“I’m fed up with this debate, should we join the macronie? That we have already decided in the political office”said Mr. Retailleau on LCI.
“The first internal referendum that I will propose to our members will be on this question” et “by the end of December they will have to decide on this very simple question: yes or no, should we partner with Emmanuel Macron?”he added.
“Those who want this merger, this dilution of LR in the macronie in fact want the death of LR”, said Bruno Retailleau. With the president’s supporters, “we don’t have the same convictions, we don’t think the same thing. From there, we shouldn’t mix”according to him.
Eric Ciotti also refuted any idea of rapprochement with Emmanuel Macron: “I do not share this analysis in any way”he assured CNews.

With his 43% in the first round, against 34% for Bruno Retailleau, he ensured: “We will be heading for victory on Sunday”.
While the third candidate Aurélien Pradié gathered 22% of the votes, the two competitors still in the running wanted to give pledges to his electorate.
“Tomorrow, if I am elected, I would like Aurélien Pradié to have a major place with his friends in the team”said Eric Ciotti. “He embodied something major, you have to hear him and listen to him”he added.
Bruno Retailleau assured him that his electorate and that of Aurélien Pradié were not “not so far”.
