Richard Gere, Waters and Cantona: Artists Sign Petition Against Bnei Gantz Declaration

by time news

114 artists have signed a petition organized by the British “Artists for Palestine” organization, which calls on the international community to protect the Palestinian people from the attack, according to them, by Israel on Palestinian human rights organizations. The petition comes in response to Defense Minister Bnei Gantz’s declaration of six Palestinian organizations as terrorist organizations.

Among the signatories to the petition: musicians Roger Waters (Pink Floyd), Peter Gabriel (Genesis), Robert White, Jarvis Cocker (Palp), David Burn (Talking Heads) and the band “Massive Attack”, movie stars Rich Red Gear and Tilda Swinton, writer Erwin Walsh (Trainspotting), film director Ken Loach and Jim Jarmusch and former football star Eric Cantona.

“The Israeli declaration of the six organizations as terrorist organizations puts their security at high risk. The military regime allows the Israeli occupation to take over their offices, shut down their activities and arrest their members. This endangers not only the organizations but Palestinian society as a whole. We call on the international community to demand Israel return “From the definition of organizations as terrorist organizations,” the petition reads.
