The road racer Raul Torras, 46, died this Tuesday during the Isle of Man Tourist Trophy (TT) competition (an island in the Irish Sea), the most dangerous motorcycle race in the world. This has been reported by the organizers at 10:30 p.m. in the British Isles, in a press release. The biker has become the second Spaniard to lose his life in this tournament, after the man from MadridSantiago Herrero in 1970.
Torras, a native of San Hilario Sacalm, Catalonia, has died in an accident that occurred during the first Supertwin race of this edition. It was in Alpine, between mile markers 16 and 17, in the third and last lap of the British test, where the Spanish motorcyclist lost his life.

The Catalan had broken his own record moments before his death after getting the fastest lap done by a Spaniard -at 125 miles per hour- on the Mountain Course (Mountain Circuit), with which he secured twentieth place in the final standings. Hours before the accident, he published on his website an image of the classification in which he was in twentieth place.
The pilot competed in 21 TT races in which he won 18 bronze statuettes and participated for the fifth time in the Isle of Man. From Motorpasión Moto they explain that the section of the circuit in which the pilot, who was also Policehad the accident, remained closed for several hours while the corresponding police investigation was carried out in these cases.
More than 260 motorcyclists have lost their lives in the competition known as the ‘death race’ since 1907 – when it was first held. 1982 was the only year in which no deaths were registered. In 2022 the British test ended with a balance of five deadwhich included a father and son, Roger and Bradley Stockton, aged 56 and 21.
