Ahead of the festival of lights, Varma unveiled the first glimpse of the film, showcasing the talented Rishab Shetty as the mighty Lord Hanuman. The poster depicts a powerful image of Hanuman reverently carrying a Lord Rama idol within what appears to be a temple, setting the stage for a captivating visual spectacle.
Film trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to share the poster, announcing: "Rishab Shetty teams up with Prasanth Varma for Jai Hanuman, the eagerly awaited sequel to Hanu-Man." He also confirmed Mythri Movie Makers as producers and highlighted the film’s affiliation with Prasanth Varma Cinematic Universe (PVCU).
Shetty himself, brimming with excitement, shared the poster on X, expressing his delight at collaborating with Varma and Mythri Movie Makers on this ambitious project. "Drawing inspiration from the Tretayuga, we’re bringing forth a saga of loyalty, courage, and devotion. Jai Hanuman is a tale to be remembered," he stated.
Word on the film circuit is that Jai Hanuman will be a high-octane superhero action film. Immersing viewers in the Kaliyuga era, the film portrays Hanuman in Agyathavas, an exile bound by a sacred oath. While an official release date remains under wraps, Mythri Movie Makers promises a cinematic experience unlike any other.
Meanwhile, Shetty is also busy crafting the prequel to his blockbuster Kantara, titled Kantara Chapter 1. This prequel, set in the 300s CE, delves deeper into the rich mythology and cultural tapestry that laid the foundation for the original Kantara. Backed by Hombale Films, Kantara Chapter 1 will be a pan-India release, captivating audiences in seven languages – Kannada, Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Bengali, and English.

Prasanth Varma (PV): Thank you for having me! The success of Hanu-Man showed me the incredible connection audiences have with the character and the stories of our mythology. There’s so much to explore within Hanuman’s narrative, and I felt a sequel was a perfect way to dive deeper into his legacy and bring more meaningful stories to the screen.
TNE: I can imagine! The poster you released is already captivating. Can you elaborate on the imagery of Hanuman carrying the idol of Lord Rama? What thematic elements are you hoping to convey through this scene?
PV: Absolutely! This image is symbolic of devotion and strength. By depicting Hanuman carrying the idol of Lord Rama, we are highlighting the essence of loyalty, protection, and the bonds between these divine figures. It closely ties in with the overarching themes of love and duty that resonate not just with the story but with our audience’s values.
TNE: It sounds like a powerful message. Diwali is just around the corner, and the timing for the launch seems intentional. How do you think releasing Jai Hanuman during this festival will impact its reception?
PV: Diwali is a time of celebration, reflection, and reverence, making it the perfect backdrop for a film like Jai Hanuman. We want the audience to immerse themselves in the spirit of the festival while watching the film. I believe that by aligning the release with this auspicious occasion, it will enhance the collective viewing experience, creating a sense of togetherness and shared emotion among fans.
TNE: That sense of community is so important, especially with the inspiring narratives from our traditions. Speaking of inspiration, could you share some of the challenges you faced while working on a sequel like Jai Hanuman?
PV: Definitely! Sequels can be tricky because you want to honor the original while exploring new elements. The challenge lies in striking that balance. We wanted to ensure that while Jai Hanuman builds on the foundation of Hanu-Man, it also surprises and excites the audience. We’ve put in a lot of effort in character development and introducing new story arcs, which I hope will delight viewers.
TNE: With Rishab Shetty reprising his role as Hanuman, what can we expect from his performance this time around?
PV: Rishab has really embodied the character. In Jai Hanuman, he brings not just the physicality of Hanuman but also a deeper emotional layer to the role. You’d see a more mature Hanuman, who faces moral dilemmas and challenges that test his devotion and bravery. The audience will connect with him on various levels.
TNE: That sounds intriguing! Before we wrap up, can you tease any other exciting elements we might see in the film that fans should look out for?
