Title: Two Students Commit Suicide in Kota, Total Number of Student Suicides This Year Rises to 24

Date: Sunday, [Insert Date]

Location: Kota, Rajasthan

Tragic incidents unfolded in Kota as two students, Avishkar Sambhaji Ghasle and Adarsh Raj, took their own lives on Sunday. This year alone, the number of student suicides in Kota has now reached 24, highlighting a deeply concerning trend.

Avishkar, a class 12 student from Maharashtra’s Latur district, had been preparing for the NEET Junior Medical Entrance Exam for the past three years. After writing an exam at a coaching center on the 6th floor, he tragically jumped to his death at around 3.15 pm. Despite the immediate rescue efforts by training center staff, Avishkar succumbed to his injuries on the way to the hospital.

Shortly after this tragic turn of events, Adarsh Raj, a student from Bihar, also ended his life in Kota. Adarsh had returned home after taking an exam at a coaching center and was found hanging from the fan in his rented accommodation at approximately 7 pm. Just like Avishkar, Adarsh also passed away while being rushed to the hospital.

These incidents have raised concerns about the well-being and mental health of students in Kota, where an estimated 3 lakh students are currently undergoing rigorous training for competitive exams like NEET and IIT JEE.

Since the beginning of this year, a total of 24 suicides have occurred in Kota, prompting District Collector O.P. Punkar to take immediate action. Yesterday, Punkar issued an order to all training centers in Kota, stating that they are prohibited from conducting any examinations for the next two months. Additionally, the order mandates the installation of spring machines in fans within training center hostels. Moreover, students must be granted at least one day off each week, during which they are relieved from classes and exams.

This move seeks to address some of the underlying concerns regarding the immense pressure and stress that students face while preparing for these competitive exams. The hope is that by temporarily alleviating their study load and ensuring their physical safety, the number of student suicides can be reduced.

The authorities in Kota are determined to find long-term solutions to prevent such tragic incidents from occurring in the future. The mental health and overall well-being of students will remain a top priority as discussions and interventions take place to combat this alarming trend.

It is a collective responsibility of parents, educators, and society as a whole to create a supportive environment that nurtures and protects the mental health of students, encouraging them to chase their dreams without compromising their well-being.
