In this case, he took a walk alone the day before yesterday morning. When he went to GV Residency apartment, the mysterious persons who came by car tried to snatch the necklace from Kelasalya’s neck.

Then he made a noise by holding his jewelry tightly with his hand. Frightened, the miscreants escaped leaving behind the jewel. The special police scrutinized the CCTV footage at the checkpoints to confirm whether the car had left the city. The car was not registered in it. Subsequently, the police confirmed that the people involved in the robbery attempt and the car were inside Singhanallur.

Abhishek (25) from Tiruvannamalai district and his friend Sakthivel (29) from Dharmapuri district were found to be involved in the robbery attempt. The police arrested the two people who were hanging around the Coimbatore Airport Road yesterday.

In this regard, Deputy Commissioners Shanmugam and Sandish say, “Abhishek has earlier cases of extortion of jewels. Abhishek has been working in Coimbatore as an employee of a food parcel distribution company and Sakthivel as a rental car driver. As Shaktivel needs money, both of them decide to rob the jewels together. Shakthivel drives the car and Abhishek tries to snatch the jewel. This car has no number plate. We nabbed them based on the sticker on the car,” they said.

Two hands are broken: When Abhishek and Shaktivel were chased by the police near Airport SIHS Colony, at one point they stopped the car, got out of it and fled. Abhishek’s left arm and Sakthivel’s right arm were broken when he slipped and fell down. The police admitted both of them to the Coimbatore Government Hospital.
