Rolling Stones Tour Canceled: Keith Richards Health

by Ahmed Ibrahim World Editor

The Rolling Stones have canceled their planned 2026 tour, dashing hopes for a major European comeback. Several news outlets reported the decision unanimously.

The tour, which had been discussed as a potential four-month run across Europe alongside a new studio album, is now off the table, according to a source close to the band who spoke with Variety. Band management confirmed the cancellation to Münchner Merkur.

Keith Richards’ Arthritis Contributes to Rolling Stones’ Tour Cancellation

The primary reason for the cancellation is guitarist Keith Richards’ health. The rock icon, who will turn 82 on Thursday, December 18th, has been increasingly affected by arthritis in his hands, requiring adjustments to his playing style.

Richards played three songs with the band in New York last month, but the demands of a full European tour would be significantly more strenuous.

While the tour hadn’t been officially announced, it was widely anticipated and already in the planning stages. A spokesperson for the band recently confirmed these preparations to British media.

Munich Concert Canceled, No Reschedule Planned for 2026

Initial reports indicated planned performances at the Allianz Arena in Munich and the Olympic Stadium in Berlin this summer, intended to make up for previously canceled concerts. The Rolling Stones last played a sold-out show at the Munich Olympic Stadium on June 5, 2022.

Despite their age, Mick Jagger, Ron Wood, and Keith Richards have continued to tour regularly in recent years. Former drummer Charlie Watts passed away in 2021 and was replaced by Steve Jordan.

Fans can still look forward to the possibility of a new album, though a release date remains unknown.
