Kameraj progressed through the esteemed Juventus youth system, eventually featuring for the club’s U23 side in Italy’s Serie C. His international career began representing Switzerland at the U19 level before he switched allegiance to Kosovo in 2019. During his time with Juventus, he had the rare opportunity to train alongside one of the world’s greatest players. “I trained with the Juventus first team. Not many players can train with a big team like Juventus,” Kameraj told Kosovan outlet Koha, reflecting on the experience. He departed the Italian giants in January 2019, however, without securing a place in the senior squad. Despite this, he maintained a positive outlook, stating, “It was a good moment for me. I would take the step to go to Juventus again.”
A Career Hampered by Injury
Despite his potential, Kameraj’s career was repeatedly derailed by notable physical setbacks. A series of injuries hindered his progress, causing him to fall behind his peers. After leaving Juventus, he failed to make a senior appearance for Lugano before departing in 2021. A brief attempt at a comeback with Swiss third-tier side Kriens proved insufficient, and he later joined Albanian side Dukagjini in 2022. There, he made 17 appearances over three years before being forced to retire at the young age of 25 due to the persistent impact of his injuries.

The decision to hang up his boots was deeply emotional. “It was heartbreaking,” he shared with Gianluca di Marzio.”Football had been my identity since I was a child. For a long time I didn’t know who I was without it.” Though, Kameraj ultimately found solace and acceptance. “But with time I found peace,I understood that life doesn’t end when your sports career ends.” He acknowledged the potential that might have been, adding, “Without the injuries, I could have reached the top. Though, I don’t like living with ‘what ifs’. I gave everything I had, and that’s what matters.”

Kameraj currently works at ICM Bau, initially in an office role. “I work in an office at ICM Bau,” he explained. “And our boss wanted us to spend a day on the construction site to understand what the work is like there and how hard it can be.” He added that the experience fostered a greater appreciation for the comforts of his office job.
