Roni Dalumi reveals the mental crisis: “I was in such a low and lost place”

by time news

Singer and winner of “A Star Is Born” Rumi Dalumi Disappeared from the charts in the past year and concentrated mainly in the world of acting in the theater with five different lead roles in the Habima National Theater, for which she received rave reviews (“Mama Mia”, “Bustan Sephardi”, “Od Hozer Hanigun” and “Milestones”) and is rehearsing for the musical The successful “Intel”, which will be staged at the end of March at the Habima National Theater, where she will play the legendary role she played Barbra Streisand In the mythological film.

Now she is back with a new song called “Though” that she composed and co-wrote with Amos Ben David She worked with him on “A Star Is Born” 14 years ago. The song is accompanied by a personal clip captured by Tamar GorenWho previously created the clips forRen Danker, Jean Bordeaux, Jasmine Mualem And more. In an interview with TMI, Dalumi tells why she made a stop from music, about the mental crisis that accompanied it and the process she went through with herself to get out of it. “The song came after a period of crisis. Yes I shared with people and went for treatment but I kept the difficulty to myself, I was very inward with it. Although, it’s always a job. “

What was there?
“I had anxiety attacks. It’s not something I did not know until that moment but I felt it was a little more powerful than I knew. There was a lot of crying, a lot of snoring – the fear of ‘what can happen if …’. I have a mechanism of taking responsibility “Too much or a desire to have more control than I have. It makes me feel that if I do not do something, then maybe something bad will happen.”

Was there a specific trigger?
“It’s always complex and sitting on a few things but one of the triggers is that my parents broke up. I took it easy and said ‘well I’m proud of them’ and in retrospect I think maybe I wanted the framework to hold and more than that – that I hold on, that I succeed. “Lee continued to work even after this thing was over, in places where it did not belong and the things around me seemed fragile to me.”

Have you had treatment? Take pills?
“I did not take pills but I went to psychological treatment which really helped me. I am still in treatment.”

What did you find out about yourself in this process?
“We’re constantly finding out about ourselves but it’s a process that you find yourself in an arena that is unfamiliar and it’s scary. On the one hand it’s scary because “I’m in this place again? And on the other hand it made me feel patriotic. I knew I would get through it, but I did not know how. It made me come out stronger, to trust myself more. It made me understand the strengths I have.”

Your public persona is very happy, it’s a little surprising.
“When I’m doing it I feel it heals me. My heart opens and in this place I feel a lot of freedom and not the caution I feel in other places. When I’m on stage and in rehearsals it fills me and it helped me a lot even then. I would go out for my day and I could put it aside. “It kept me going. It’s surprising people I’m going through it but for me it’s so present.”

You went back with Amos Ben David. Did you get to do a mental arithmetic with yourself? What did you go through from the moment a star was born?
“I feel like it’s a continuation of the same line. I feel myself all the time, for me I’m a continuation of the same thing that has grown, evolved and upgraded. The core is the same core but obviously I know better what I want and what tools I have. Amos was amazing then and he “Amazing today, something in a meeting with him inspires calm. He sees you and knows how to help everyone get their best.”

Has kind of disappeared from the music scene in the last year. What happened?
“In recent years I have focused more on theater. I have released music but less frequently because my dream of being an actress is on the same level as my dream of being a singer and it requires time and investment. Now I hope it balances out.”

The parades today are occupied by young people like Anna Zack, Noa Kirl and Lake Bohbot. Is it threatening?
“Music is music. I don’t think people listen to music by age, but by what excites them. I really feel the need to say this song and release it to the world and if it excites anyone I don’t think it matters who I am or how old I am.”

Are you adapting to this new spirit?
“Everyone shines in their own places. If I want to adapt myself I will probably be further away from myself and then my potential to do something significant is small. I think the audience is open and people hear all sorts of things.”

You’ve been married for six years. Is there a desire to expand the family?
“It’s definitely this stage. When it happens, it will happen.”

Are there pressures from the family or attempts?
“There are the questions around. It’s puzzling to people who have not yet gotten pregnant. I was 24 when I got married and felt I needed to grow up to be a mom. I felt I needed more time to cook and grow up. .
