Rospotrebnadzor has identified repeated violations of the safety of fruits and vegetables from Turkey and Iran. The ministry has suspended the import of peppers, pomegranates and grapes. About 60 thousand tons of Turkish grapes and 10 thousand tons of pomegranates were not allowed to Russia. Since October, the import of four types of food products from China has been banned.

The restriction on the import of peppers and pomegranates from Turkey was suspended from November 17, grapes – from December 10. The suspension of supplies of pepper from Iran has been in effect since December 2.

Rospotrebnadzor claims that from October 27 to December 7, residues of 12 pesticides were detected in tangerines, lemons, grapes, pomegranates and peppers of 33 producers from Turkey and Iran. 10 of them have not passed state registration and are not allowed in Russia. “The concentration of such pesticides as chlorpyrifos, acetamiprid, which are substances of the second hazard class, exceeded more than two times in various types of food products,” the ministry said in a statement.

Rospotrebnadzor claims that for a child weighing 20 kg, the use of one tangerine, which contains chlorpyrifos, “can lead to an excess of the average daily dose by 2.5 times and the manifestation of toxic effects.” “And the use of grapes, in which the detected concentration of acetamiprid exceeds the hygienic standard by 2.4 times, taking into account the toxicological properties of acetamiprid, can cause acute poisoning of the body of both a child and an adult,” the message says.

In October, Rospotrebnadzor banned the import of four types of Chinese-made food products, which are not specified. It is noted that it contains DNA of “genetically modified corn and soybeans in an amount of up to 20% with a standard of less than 0.9%.”
