Two Teenagers Dead, One Critically Injured in South Yorkshire Car Crash
A tragic car accident near Rotherham, South Yorkshire, has claimed the lives of two 17-year-olds and left an 18-year-old in critical condition.The incident, which occurred on Todwick Road, is under examination by South Yorkshire Police.
The crash took place as a silver Toyota Corolla was traveling away from Dinnington towards Todwick, according to police reports.The vehicle left the roadway, ultimately colliding with a tree. Emergency responders arrived at the scene to find both the driver, a 17-year-old girl, and a 17-year-old male passenger deceased.
An 18-year-old male, also a passenger in the vehicle, was transported to a local hospital where he remains in critical condition as of this reporting. The extent of his injuries has not been released.
Authorities are actively seeking information from the public to help determine the circumstances leading up to the collision. The 2004 Toyota Corolla was heading towards Todwick when it veered off Todwick Road and struck a tree at approximately 11:30 PM on Saturday. Police are investigating potential factors including speed and road conditions. “Our thoughts remain with the families of those who have died, and the man seriously injured,” a senior police official stated. “We are working to ascertain the circumstances and are keen to speak to anyone who believes they can definitely help.”
