In April, Turkey imported more than $3.3 billion worth of products from Russia. This is evidenced by statistics from the Turkish Ministry of Trade, which were cited by the head of the ministry Omer Bolat, Day.Az reports with reference to TASS.
According to him, the first place in Turkey’s imports of products was taken by the PRC, which accounted for $3.753 billion. It was followed by the Russian Federation – $3.33 billion and Germany – $2.244 billion. The main share of Turkish exports in April fell to Germany – $1.481 billion, the USA – $1.185 billion and the UK – $1.124 billion.
“Turkey’s exports in April amounted to $19.3 billion, an increase of 0.1% compared to a year earlier, imports increased by 4.2%, amounting to $29.1 billion,” Bolat said at a meeting of the Assembly of Exporters of the Republic. He called Turkey’s exports in April “the second largest in history.”
In general, Turkey’s exports in January – April of this year amounted to $82.873 billion, which is 2.7% higher than in the same period in 2023. Imports decreased by 8.9%, amounting to $113.117 billion. The foreign trade deficit since the beginning of 2024 decreased by 4.3% compared to a year earlier and amounted to $195.990 billion.
