The Government Commission on Legislative Activities approved the ratification of the Russian-Chinese agreement on cooperation in the creation of the International Scientific Lunar Station.
As part of the project, Roscosmos and the Chinese National Space Administration will jointly explore the Moon and build a station. Other international partners may also join the project. The project will be implemented in three stages.
In the first stage, Russian and Chinese lunar missions must determine the location of the Lunar Station and verify technologies for a safe landing on the lunar surface. At the second stage, it is planned to establish a control center for the Lunar Station, deliver bulk cargo and create orbital modules to provide power supply, communications and transport services. The third stage involves the exploration of the Moon, expanding the functionality of the Lunar Station modules and assisting international partners in landing a man on the Moon. The parties agreed to exempt goods transported under the agreement from customs duties and taxes, as well as to provide assistance to industrial activities related to the creation of the Lunar Station.
