It has been almost 11 months since Russia launched its military operation against Ukraine. Ukraine is retaliating against Russia’s attacks. Both sides are taking turns attacking and causing serious damage. Unimaginable number of lives have been lost. Many people have fled their homes and moved to safer places fearing for their lives. Infrastructures have been destroyed.

In this case, the government of Ukraine periodically publishes statistics about its military operations and the damage caused by Russia. In this way, the currently published statistics are shocking.

Russia claims to have lost 1,16,950 soldiers since February 2022, when it began its full-scale invasion into Ukraine. If this information is true, it means that Russia lost more soldiers in this war than the United States lost in the First World War.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has shared statistics on the losses of Russian forces in Ukraine on its Twitter page. Of these, 3,121 Russian-owned artillery and 4,877 vehicles and fuel cannons, 2,104 artillery systems were said to have been destroyed during the full-scale offensive.

A total of 1,16,516 Americans died in World War I. Of those, 53,402 died on the battlefield, and the remaining 63,114 died while serving in Europe, from non-battle-related causes and influenza, according to Newsweek.

Meanwhile, Newsweek reports that Russia has officially announced that fewer than 6,000 Russian soldiers have died in the war in Ukraine so far.
