Russia is closely following the development of the situation on the Korean Peninsula and calls on partners for restraint and dialogue. This was announced by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova.
“We are closely following the development of the situation on the Korean Peninsula. There is no reasonable alternative to the politico-diplomatic way of resolving the region’s problems. In this context, we call on all partners to show restraint and in practice to confirm their readiness to resume the dialogue in line with the previously reached agreements and assumed obligations, ”Zakharova said in a comment posted on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
Moscow, according to Zakharova, will continue to motivate the states involved to implement the “road map” for a Korean settlement prepared by Russia and China, as well as the provisions of the “action plan” for a comprehensive solution of the problems of the Korean Peninsula.
North Korea’s state media reported on September 13 that the country had tested a new long-range cruise missile over the weekend, capable of hitting almost anywhere in Japan. North Korea last launched ballistic missiles on March 25 during testing of a new type of tactical guided missile. In accordance with UN Security Council resolutions, North Korea is prohibited from testing ballistic missiles and nuclear technologies.
On September 15, the South Korean military launched a ballistic missile from the Dosan Ahn Chang-ho submarine. The shooting was inspected by South Korean President Moon Jae In.
