Russian Foreign Ministry: the purpose of the special operation in Ukraine is to bring the Kyiv regime to justice

The purpose of Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine is to hold the “puppet” regime accountable “for its crimes,” including against Russian citizens, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said at a briefing. The possible organization of negotiations with Kiev in Minsk does not cancel the implementation of the goal of the Russian special military operation in Ukraine, she added.

“Her (special operations.— ”b”) the goal is to protect people who for eight years were subjected to bullying and genocide by the Kiev regime, which came to power in 2014 as a result of an unconstitutional coup d’état. Another task of the operation is to bring the current leaders, the puppet regime, to justice for the crimes committed during these years against civilians, including citizens of the Russian Federation, as well as to carry out the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine,” said Ms. Zakharova.

Yesterday, February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the start of a military operation in Ukraine. Western countries condemned Moscow’s actions, calling it an invasion, and responded with economic sanctions.
