A storm in a cup of tea? Sakhnin announced today (Friday) that Doha Stadium will be approved this coming Sunday (5.12). Meaning: The team from the sector will host the league game against Maccabi Petah Tikva as part of the 13th round at its home stadium with the help of politicians.
The matter was settled after the intervention of MK Mazen Ghanaim (former chairman of the club) who contacted the Minister of Economy and Industry, Orna Barbibai, and the Deputy Prime Minister Avir Kara, who is responsible for business licensing.
The mayor of Sakhnin, Dr. Safouat Abu Reya, said that the bodies responsible for the licensing contacted the stadium’s management today and it was agreed that an expedited hearing would take place this coming Sunday.
Sakhnin in an official response: “Our thanks and appreciation to Sarah Orna and Deputy Prime Minister Avir Kara for listening to the needs of the Sakhnin Club and its general public, and to Knesset member Mazen Ghanaim for his work in obtaining approval and support for correcting deficiencies to open stand 4.”
