Husband Found Dead, Wife Arrested in Alleged Murder Case in Salem District

SALEM DISTRICT – In a shocking turn of events, Sundarraj, a 32-year-old resident of Jalagandapuram in Salem district, was found dead in his house on July 17. The incident, which occurred at 4 am, left the community in shock and raised questions about the circumstances surrounding his death.

Sundarraj, who had returned to his hometown five years ago after working in Bengaluru, had started a power loom business. He lived with his 27-year-old wife, Nivedita, and their seven-year-old son.

Nivedita, upon finding her husband’s lifeless body, immediately informed her relatives and the police. The Jalagandapuram Police Station promptly registered a case of suicide and sent the body for an autopsy at the Mettur Government Hospital. An investigation was initiated to determine the cause of his death.

The post-mortem report revealed a surprising twist. Contrary to initial assumptions of suicide by hanging, it was discovered that Sundarraj died of suffocation, without any signs of his neck being bound. Suspicion soon fell upon his wife, Nivedita.

During her interrogation, Nivedita confessed to the police that she, along with an accomplice named Kallakadalan, had smothered her husband using a pillow. She disclosed that she had become involved in an extramarital affair with a man named Dinesh, who she had befriended through a mutual acquaintance, Vidya. Dinesh had allegedly become involved with Nivedita while Sundarraj was working as a teacher in a private school.

According to sources, Sundarraj had discovered the affair and reprimanded Nivedita, subsequently confiscating her phone. In a fit of rage and frustration, Nivedita admitted to planning her husband’s murder. She then enlisted the help of her friend Vidya and Dinesh, a con artist.

Exploiting the absence of Sundarraj’s parents, who were visiting relatives in Bangalore, the trio devised a plan. Nivedita, with Vidya’s assistance, managed to administer sleeping pills to Sundarraj. They later suffocated him with a pillow, carefully staging the scene to make it appear as a hanging. The investigation confirmed that the three individuals had manipulated the evidence and staged a suicide.

The shocking revelation led to the immediate arrest of Nivedita, Dinesh, and Vidya. The arrests have sent shockwaves through the close-knit community, leaving them grappling with the heinous crime that occurred within their midst.

Authorities are continuing their investigation into the case, aiming to gather more evidence and present a solid case against the accused trio. The legal proceedings are expected to shed further light on the motives behind the alleged murder and the extent of the involvement of each individual.

Even though the incident has unnerved the community, the arrest of the three culprits has provided some solace to the grieving family members of Sundarraj. Justice will now take its course, ensuring that those responsible for his untimely death face the consequences of their actions.
