Samsung Launches Galaxy SmartTag 3 With iOS Support

Households mixing Android phones and iPhones can track shared belongings for the first time as Samsung Electronics introduces the Galaxy SmartTag 3 globally with cross-platform iOS support, an extended battery life of up to 790 days, and a redesigned squircle body launching in South Korea on October 7, 2026, followed by the United States in early November.

Users operating Apple devices can now connect the tracker through the SmartThings Find network. Users operating Apple devices check location histories and run local search functions without brand restrictions.

The latest iteration of Samsung’s tracking device departs from the design language of its predecessor by adopting a rounded square, or squircle, shape. By removing the traditional loop hole at the top, the manufacturer trimmed the physical dimensions of the hardware. According to the released specifications, the Galaxy SmartTag 3 features a volume roughly 35 percent smaller and weighs 33 percent less than the Galaxy SmartTag 2 released in 2023. Because the built-in keyring opening is gone, users must rely on separate accessories such as a Silicone Case or Loop Case to attach the tracker to personal items.

Certain advanced capabilities remain exclusive to the manufacturer’s own ecosystem. As reported across multiple channels, features such as Compass View, Ring Phone, and Left Behind Alert are unavailable on iOS devices.

Extending Battery Performance With Power Saving Mode

The device runs on a replaceable CR2032 coin cell battery. Under standard conditions, the tracker supports up to 550 days of use. Activating the Power Saving Mode extends that operational window to 790 days.

Opting for the power-saving setting does require functional trade-offs.

Using Bluetooth 6.0 Channel Sounding

Powered by Bluetooth 6.0 Channel Sounding, the Compass View feature delivers directional guidance and distance estimates up to 60 meters in clear line-of-sight conditions. That range measures approximately three times further than previous models, while Ultra-Wideband technology handles precise close-range tracking.

Access to these advanced localization features requires specific hardware.

When tags move beyond direct Bluetooth connectivity, the device taps into the Galaxy Find Network, which links participating Samsung devices worldwide to relay location data securely.

Automating Alerts For Daily Tracking

Among these additions is Place Notification, a geofencing system that issues phone alerts whenever a tag crosses a designated boundary.

With the help of location data from the Galaxy Find Network, Place Notification can notify users when pets wander away from a garden or when bicycles are detected moving outside their usual parking spots.

Complementary tools include Location History logs, Movement Detection Alerts that flag unexpected shifts, and Left Behind Alerts that trigger when a phone loses its connection to the tracker. For emergency situations, an NFC-enabled Lost Mode allows anyone who finds a missing item to tap it with a smartphone to view the registered owner’s contact details.

Purchasing The Tracker In Global Markets

Retail packaging includes single units priced at 29.99 USD alongside four-pack bundles retailing for 99.99 USD. The device is offered in Black and White color options.

Market availability begins in South Korea on October 7, 2026, before expanding to the United States in early November and scaling to additional international territories throughout 2027. As such, users must ensure their devices are equipped with the necessary Bluetooth 6.0 and Ultra-Wideband hardware to utilize these enhanced tracking and directional capabilities.
