The Mayor’s Office of San Salvador highlighted the unforgettable experience that the capital’s residents lived, since the Day of the Lanterns took place on the eve of the birth of the Virgin Mary.

“On the eve of the birth of the Virgin Mary, Lantern Day comes to life in the capital! It is an honor to be part of this festivity for the first time in the heart of El Salvador, thanks to the revitalization of our Historic Center. “We are waiting for you to share together this magical night full of tradition and emotions!” said the mayor’s office on social networks.

The celebration was held in the Atrium of the El Calvario parish and had the participation of the Ministry of Culture with songs by the Marimba and the Folkloric Ballet.

“This is how we live the Day of the Lanterns, a cultural treasure of El Salvador! A festival unites us in an unforgettable experience that captivates residents of the capital and tourists who visit us,” mentioned the capital commune.

Expanding, the tradition of Farolitos Day was born on September 7 in Ahuchapán and has been in existence for more than 170 years and over the years it has spread to other western municipalities such as Ataco, Tacuba and Apaneca.
