São Paulo Woman Dragged by Vehicle in Suspected Attempted Feminicide

A 31-year-old woman is hospitalized in serious condition after being intentionally run over and dragged by a vehicle in São Paulo, Brazil, on Saturday, March 29th.authorities have identified the suspect as Douglas Alves da Silva, 26, and are pursuing him on charges related to attempted feminicide.The incident, captured on security and dashcam footage, has sparked outrage and a widespread search for the perpetrator.
Brutal Attack Unfolds on Marginal Tietê
The harrowing event began around 6:20 a.m. on Marginal Tietê in the Vila Maria region of northern São Paulo. According to reports, the victim was with a friend at a bar on Tenente Amaro Felícíssimo street. The friend reportedly left to meet someone, leaving the victim at the establishment. A short time later, the victim was seen walking with Alves da Silva.
Security camera footage obtained by CNN Brazil shows the pair walking, then, 30 seconds later, captures the moment of impact. The driver of a Volkswagen Polo deliberately struck the woman,then continued to drag her along the avenue. A second video,filmed by a passing motorist,corroborates this account,showing the victim being dragged a important distance.

Suspect Identified, Motive Revealed
Police have identified Douglas Alves da Silva as the prime suspect.A statement from the São Paulo Public Security Secretariat (SSP) indicates that Alves da Silva acted with the intention to kill the victim. He is currently wanted by authorities.
Following the attack, law enforcement officials located a vehicle believed to be involved in the crime. However, a search of the suspect’s residence proved unsuccessful.
Victim’s Condition and Ongoing Investigation
The victim was promptly transported to Vereador José Storopolli Municipal Hospital, where she was intubated and treated for severe injuries to her face and both legs. Tragically, she required a blood transfusion and underwent bilateral below-knee amputations. She remains in stable, but critical, condition.
The case has been registered at the 73rd DP (Jaçanã) and is being investigated by the Civil Police.CNN Brazil has reached out to Alves da Silva’s defense for comment,but has not yet received a response.
