Riyadh: Confirmation that Houthi rebels have attacked the Aramco oil company in Jizan, eastern Saudi Arabia. This was made clear by the Saudi-led military alliance. The coalition said Houthi rebels had also attacked a plant in al-Shaqeeq.

The coalition says it has destroyed four drones launched into southern Saudi Arabia. This is an area where Houthi rebels regularly carry out drone and missile attacks. The coalition said the Dahran al-Janoub power station near Jiza was also attacked. The attack was followed by a fire. The Saudi Press Agency has released footage of firefighters setting fire to the house.

This is the first strong attack by the Houthis since a March 10 drone strike on an oil refinery in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia. The Houthis have turned down an invitation from six Gulf National Cooperation Council (GCC) meetings to discuss the Yemeni conflict in Riyadh from March 29.

Houthi rebels often target airports and oil companies in Saudi Arabia, one of the world’s largest oil exporters. As Russia continues its offensive in Ukraine, the energy sector is facing a major crisis. Meanwhile, Houthi rebels attacked the Aramco oil company.
