After VfB Stuttgart’s 3-1 win at SC Freiburg, sports director Fabian Wohlgemuth dedicated the victory to the seriously injured Dan-Axel Zagadou. We summarize the votes for the game.

On matchday 20 of the Bundesliga, VfB Stuttgart won 3-1 (2-1) at SC Freiburg. After the game we collected the votes of those involved.

VfB coach Sebastian Hoeneß: “After the 2-0 win, we were in a challenging situation. On the one hand, to make it 3-0, but on the other hand, not to allow anything at the back. Which didn’t work so well. The victory makes me very proud and happy. We have now reached 40 points, which is outstanding. But we won’t announce any new goals because of this.”

SC coach Christian Streich: “We defended Waldemar Anton’s 50-meter pass poorly before making it 0-1. After the 0:2 and the early red card, the game was basically decided. You can give the card like this. We then tried to keep the rooms small. But it was simply difficult to get anything against VfB.”

VfB player Maximilian Mittelstädt: “It’s a nice feeling for me to finally have scored a goal again after four years. My first Bundesliga goal was against VfB, now I’m happy about my first goal for VfB. I speculated that the goalkeeper would go down early. It could have turned out differently, but I have a lot of self-confidence to try something like that. No blame for the red card foul. Things like this happen, it wasn’t intentional.”

VfB player Waldemar Anton: “Before the 1-0 I wanted to play the ball into the red zone. I saw that the two central defenders were a bit far apart. Deniz then took the ball brilliantly and used it ice cold. That’s what we train in training, I think the coach will be happy. Today we can only blame ourselves for exploiting our chances; then the game would have been decided earlier. We want to continue like this and ultimately play internationally.”

VfB sports director Fabian Wohlgemuth: “Today was a win for Daxo! It was noticeable that something had happened to the team after the events of this week. We clearly had the game on our side until the red card, but the sending off didn’t do us any good. The 2-0 win and the majority gave us a certain feeling of security. After the break we got back into the game straight away and ultimately deserved to win.”
