The exciting end-of-year routine starts this week. This Monday at 12 p.m. in Nyon (Switzerland) the draw for the round of 16 of the Champions League will take place, for which only Paris Saint-Germain qualified among the French clubs after the elimination of RC Lens. The matches will take place on February 13, 14, 20 and 21 for the first legs and March 5, 6, 12 and 13 for the return legs. The draw will be broadcast on Canal+, BeIN SPORT and RMC Sport, but also on the official UEFA website. You can also find live commentary on our site.

Beware of big guys for Paris

After narrowly qualifying for the final phase, Paris can expect tough action in the 8th round. Second in its group, the capital club risks finding its old demons: Bayern Munich, Réal Madrid and even Manchester City. A more lenient draw could please the Rouge et Bleu with Réal Sociedad. But be careful, the Spaniards still remain the best defense in the competition (2 goals conceded in 6 matches) and managed to beat Inter Milan, last season’s finalist. Note that PSG cannot face Borussia Dortmund, with whom it competed for first place in Group F.

Paris Saint-Germain will therefore be able to face Bayern Munich, Arsenal, Réal Madrid, Réal Sociedad, Atlético de Madrid, Manchester City or FC Barcelona.

The C3 on the menu

In the wake of the draw for the knockout stages of the Champions League, we will also know the posters for the Europa League play-offs in which Marseille, Rennes and Toulouse, second in their group, will be involved, as well as Lens, transferred from the phase of C1 groups after finishing third. French clubs will not be able to play against each other before the quarter-finals, as stipulated by UEFA regulations. The draw will begin at 1 p.m. at the House of European Football in Nyon. The first legs will be held on February 15, while the return matches will be played a week later, on February 22. Last season, all of our French clubs involved in the Europa League were eliminated at this stage of the competition, namely Rennes, Nantes and Monaco.

The only French club involved in the European Cup not affected by this Monday’s draw, Lille qualified directly for the round of 16 of the Europa Conference League by finishing first in its group. The Dogues will know their opponent on Friday February 23.
