Already in 2022, the first hybrids of human and artificial intelligence may appear in the world, RIA Novosti reports with reference to Alexander Bokhanovsky, director of the Competence Center of the National Technology Initiative Machine Learning and Cognitive Technologies.
In particular, the scientist announced the emergence of the so-called cognitive “centaurs”, these are systems for solving complex problems, where the decision is made by both humans and artificial intelligence. This method can be used to manage large companies.
Hybrid systems can successfully prove themselves in socio-technical systems, for example, when building HR policies in enterprises. The fact is, the expert draws attention to the fact that now, when this work is performed only by a person, a rather large share of uncertainty is included, while it is not always justified. This approach makes it difficult to optimize tasks. Of course, it is technically impossible to plant a robot instead of a full-time personnel officer, but, according to Bukhovsky, artificial intelligence can in the future, when designing production lines of enterprises, calculate not only the capacity of the necessary equipment, but also give calculations on the number of required personnel, their competencies and the optimal work schedule.
The use of artificial intelligence technologies for the development of solutions to quite applied problems with the existing shortage of personnel working with big data, in the future, may lead to the fact that human employees with insufficient competencies will begin to lose to artificial intelligence, which will lead to a revision of personnel policy in information technologies. As an example, the expert cited the case when artificial intelligence unexpectedly won the hatacton of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, dedicated to the prevention of extreme floods, it turned out that the necessary and quite applicable algorithms in life were proposed dozens of times faster than usually happens at such events. The expert explains the loss of people by the fact that some specialists, when solving such problems, simply use the method of enumerating different algorithms without any creative approach. Artificial intelligence, of course, does this kind of work faster.
All these trends will lead to the fact that over time, artificial intelligence will acquire two features, which, as previously thought, are characteristic only of humans. In particular, stratification will begin in the artificial intelligence environment, when a stronger artificial intelligence begins to somehow “reason” about weaker artificial intelligence. In addition, the widespread application of artificial intelligence to solving human problems will sooner or later lead to the fact that it will begin to make mistakes. The reason is not that artificial intelligence is “arrogant”, but that in many situations that people decide, there is a high degree of uncertainty, and on this shaky ground, the computer brain will sooner or later start giving wrong decisions.
The only way to avoid the errors of artificial intelligence is to create multiple metrological standards to fill in the missing data.
According to the expert, avatar-like technologies will also be developed. The word “avatar” has long ceased to be perceived as a term from science fiction, sets of digital data are called avatars, it can be an object or a person who has been assigned this or that task in cyberspace. As long as the avatars themselves are “lifeless”, the scientist calls the main disadvantage the lack of feedback, which makes it possible to evaluate the use of a particular method to solve the problem and, in general, the avatar’s reaction to what is happening. According to the expert, avatars can self-learn when using metacognitive technologies, this will make artificial intelligence more personalized. In fact, all these “upgrades” can await the field of artificial intelligence as early as 2022. The mind developed by people will solve more and more human tasks and acquire more and more features of its creators, and in cyberspace, having become an avatar, it will be able to turn into its developers, becoming, based on the task, an “inquisitor” that protects order in the system or a “hunter behind the heads “, looking for talented professionals on the digital trail.
