“Sean Weissman is a legend in Valladolid. We didn’t ask him to leave”

Valladolid’s sporting director claims: We never planned or wanted Sean Weissman to leave, his move to Granada happened on his own initiative. Fran Sanchez held a press conference today (Thursday) in which he explained, among other things, what were the motives behind parting with the Israeli striker, who returned to the second division in Spain and was loaned to Granada until the end of the season (with a purchase option in the event of promotion).

“I know Sean Weissmann is a legend in Valladolid. Everyone loved him here, from the players to the last of the fans. The truth is that no one from the club ever asked him to leave. No one told him he was not wanted. I didn’t want him to leave, but I want him to be happy , and that’s why I released him,” Sanchez said. “We did everything possible to help him, but after the game against Valencia he said he wanted to leave. He repeated it over and over, without a break. He just wanted to play more. That’s the truth.”

Sanchez’s comments line up with reports published yesterday in Spain, according to which Weisman left in a rather dramatic fashion. According to the reports, Weissman “broke the tools” to leave the club, did not celebrate with the other players the victory over Valencia and demanded to leave repeatedly. Finally, he went to Granada on his own accord to move there.
