The successive departure of two ministers from the BJP cabinet in Uttar Pradesh in the last 24 hours has caused a stir in state politics. Tara Singh Chauhan, who was the Forest Minister in Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s cabinet, has quit the BJP. Swami Prasad Maurya, who was a member of the BJP cabinet, left the party yesterday and Tara Singh also left.
The Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, comprising 403 Assembly constituencies, will be held in seven phases from February 10 to March 10. The BJP, Samajwadi Party, Bahujan Samaj and Congress are in the fray.
In his resignation letter, he accused the government of not treating the backward people, Dalits, farmers and unemployed youth properly.
