According to the security protocol published by the Ministry of Justice and Public Security and the Government of the Federal District this Thursday (4), the January 8 event will have around 2,000 police officers for ostensible surveillance of the region.

The protocol establishes the partial closure of the Esplanade of the Ministries from José Sarney Avenue, an area that protects the buildings of the three Powers.

The document also establishes that the Plaza de los Tres Poderes will be surrounded with fences from January 7 to 9 and camping will be prohibited in the public areas of the Esplanada de los Ministerios, the Plaza de los Tres Poderes and the Monumental and Road Axes in its entire extension.

According to the Secretary of Justice and Public Security, Acting Minister Ricardo Cappelli, there will be 250 men from the National Force protecting the Palace of Justice and will be on alert to intervene if necessary.

Cappelli stated that constant monitoring is carried out and there are no signs of new demonstrations for January 8, ensuring that what happened a year ago will not be repeated.
