Anomalous incident on Elel flight LY2522: Security guards today (Thursday) took control of a passenger who tried to break into the cockpit on a flight from Prague to Tel Aviv – and the plane had to land in Greece. In the security establishment, there is growing suspicion that the background to the incident is security.
An airline security guard took control of the passenger, apparently of Arab origin, and handcuffed him. After that, a procedure was implemented according to which all planes against a more complex event. As mentioned, the plane landed in Thessaloniki after coordination with the Greek police.
“The Elel company takes the incident seriously and takes all the necessary measures according to the procedures and the law in coordination with the relevant enforcement authorities,” the airline said. “We show zero tolerance for violence and will continue to take care of our passengers’ safety and security.”
