Sener designs a new sustainable tanker for biofuel bunkering

engineering company Tendons has unveiled its conceptual design for a new sustainable tanker model for biofuel bunkering. It is a vessel created for multi-product supply, which can load heavy fuel oil, fuel oil with very low sulfur content, biofuels and marine fuels, as well as reserve CO2 capture from nearby ships.

Specifically, this vessel has been designed in order to operate in compliance with the requirements for energy efficiency and reduction of emissions dictated by the IMO, for which technical-economic configurations have been integrated that make it easier for shipowners to select efficient alternatives based on your priorities and needs.

Likewise, the design takes into account the different propulsion alternatives, the different types of sulphate cleaning systems and CO2 capture systems.

For example, the concept’s CO2 capture and storage system integrates an SCR or selective catalytic reduction system and a sulphate cleaning system. Among its functions, the ship can store the CO2 captures of other vessels in its vicinity, allowing the capture of this element in the area of operation while reducing emissions in the area.

Sustainability has become the main objective of the Spanish port system, an example of which is that the Port of Tarragona will be the headquarters of the Green Hydrogen Valley of Catalonia, having become a strategic structure for the arrival of hydrogen in this area .
