Invited to join Zhejiang Jingti, a team boasting Olympic medalists like Huang Yaqiong (Paris 2024 mixed doubles gold) and Wang Chang (men’s doubles silver), Seo quickly demonstrated his versatility. In six matches,he secured four victories,partnering with various teammates in both men’s and mixed doubles.
However, the initial challenge wasn’t tactical-it was linguistic. “The hardest part when playing with Seo is the language barrier,” noted one of his teammates. “Sometimes we move into the same area, but that’s manageable. What really disrupts us is not being able to communicate during matches.” Despite this hurdle, Seo rapidly adapted, securing a win in his second outing alongside Huang Yaqiong and seamlessly integrating into the league’s dynamic.
A champion’s Pedigree
Seo Seung-jae’s success in the CBSL builds upon an already impressive career.In 2023, he achieved the rare feat of winning world titles in both men’s doubles (with Kang min-hyuk) and mixed doubles (with Chae Yoo-jung). This season, focusing on men’s doubles with Kim Won-ho, he reached new heights, capturing an astounding 12 titles, including another world championship. He became the first doubles player to defend a world title with different partners, earning the pair the BWF Men’s Doubles Pair of the Year award.

The current CBSL season involves eight clubs competing across four cities: Shenzhen, Hangzhou, Suzhou, and Wuhu, with the finals scheduled to begin on January 1, 2026, in Changsha.The league has also attracted other international stars, including Anders Antonsen, Goh V Shem, and Yuta Watanabe.
