Seoul, Washington and Tokyo discuss supply chains and artificial intelligence in economic dialogue

National security officials from South Korea, the United States and Japan discussed efforts to enhance cooperation in supply chains, emerging technologies and the digital sphere in a regular dialogue session, the presidential office said on Thursday.

The third session of the economic dialogue was held in the coastal city of Busan in the southeast of the country, headed by Presidential Assistant for Economic Security Wang Yun-jung and his American counterpart, Tarun Chhabra, and his Japanese counterpart, Yasuo Takamura.
They reaffirmed that the Camp David summit between the leaders of the three countries in August last year was an occasion to strengthen trilateral security and economic cooperation and discussed ways to achieve tangible results from the summit at an early date.
The presidential office said that efforts to enhance cooperation in supply chains were discussed, through multilateral initiatives such as the Mineral Security Partnership and the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework (IPEF).
The officials agreed to find ways to facilitate joint research between government research institutes in the three countries to study basic and emerging technologies.
They also discussed AI governance, and agreed to work closely on cyber threats and data security.
