The Ministry of Commerce confirmed, on Saturday, that the support given by Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani to the success of the season is a major turning point in the work and performance of its staff, while it indicated that the Ministry of Finance granted it 500 billion dinars as a first installment to pay farmers’ dues.

The ministry’s official spokesman, Muhammad Hanoun, said in a statement received by the (INA): “The marketing season for the 2024 crop, which opened in the middle of this month, achieved great positive results by marketing large quantities of the wheat crop to the ministry’s stores in the central and southern governorates.” .
Hanoun added, “The support given by Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani to make the season a success is a major turning point in the work and performance of the technical and administrative cadres affiliated with the Ministry of Commerce in all governorates.”
He pointed out that “Al-Sudani opened the marketing season in Anbar, and he directed that all means be taken to make the wheat marketing season a success and to address all the problems that have emerged in recent years.”
Hanoun explained, “Minister of Trade Atheer Al-Ghurairi formed an operations room in each governorate, supervised by a general director from the ministry’s center, who was granted the powers of the minister in order to overcome all obstacles and make the marketing season a success.”
He continued, “The staff of the Ministry and the General Company for Grain Trade are making exceptional efforts to make the current season a success and receive all marketed wheat from farmers.”
He pointed out that “the Ministry of Finance granted trade 500 billion dinars as a first installment to pay the farmers’ dues,” stressing that “the General Company for Grain Trade, through its branches, began handing over the farmers’ funds.”
Hanoun concluded by saying: “The trade has begun expanding the silos for storing wheat in all governorates, in order to accommodate the increasing quantities of wheat and expand the strategic storage of this material throughout Iraq, in line with its strategic importance in achieving Iraqi food security.”
